Clean area thoroughly with soap and water solution and wipe completely dry. Use alcohol pads to prep the tape application
area and let dry. Wait until after Tailgate Seal is installed before applying very firm pressure (25lbs.), to secure adhesive bond. If necessary, Tailgate Seal can
be removed and repositioned prior to applying very firm pressure (25lbs.). Pictures shown below are for the left sidewall and tailgate bottom gap. |
 |
STEP 1: ATTACHING TO LOWER SIDEWALL USING LARGE TAILGATE SEAL
Cut a 1 ½” piece of Large seal and peel off liner. Flush top of bulb to side of truck bed floor and attach 1” below truck bed floor (FIG 1A and 1B). Apply light pressure to adhesive.
Duplicate for right lower sidewall. |

STEP 2: ATTACHING TO SIDEWALL USING STANDARD TAILGATE SEAL
Take roll of Standard seal, partially remove line, and flush to Large seal on the lower sidewall. Align and attach to the rear corner edge of the left sidewall extension (FIG 2A and 2B). Continue straight up, applying light pressure to adhesive and stop when 6” from the rubber stop.
Keeping adhesive off surface, mark the seal where it will be flush to bottom of rubber stop. Cut, remove liner and continue up to rubber stop. Apply light pressure to adhesive.
Duplicate for right sidewall.
Close tailgate. If you see light through either sidewall, below the rubber stop, then make adjustments by removing seal and repositioning. Once seal is positioned, for STEPS 1 and 2, apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure adhesive bond. |
|

|
STEP 3: ATTACHING TO TOP OF SIDEWALL USING LARGE TAILGATE SEAL
Take Large seal but do not remove adhesive liner. Position seal and determine where adhesive will be adhered to based on FIG 3A, 3B, 3C and 3D. Put on protective glove and apply enclosed adhesion promoter to where the adhesive will be adhered to. Allow 90 seconds to dry.
NOTE: The adhesion promote will create an instant bond so do not attempt to remove or reposition. Take Large seal, partially remove liner, and attach. When nearing the top of sidewall extension, gradually begin rotating seal 90° degrees counterclockwise, as you proceed up.
When even with the top of bedrail, the top of seal should be facing inward and the taped side of seal should be flush with the sidewall of the bedrail (FIG 3D and 3E). Cut excess seal. Apply very firm pressure (25lbs.), especially at rotation points, to secure adhesive bond. Duplicate for right sidewall. |

|
 |
STEP 4: ATTACHING TO SIDE OF TAILGATE USING STANDARD TAILGATE SEAL
Attach a piece of Standard seal, bulb side up, as shown in FIG 4A and 4B (flush to inside bottom of tailgate top). Apply light pressure to adhesive. Close tailgate. If you see light through the top of sidewall, make adjustments by removing seal and repositioning. Once seal is positioned apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure adhesive bond. Duplicate for right sidewall. |
 |
STEP 5: ATTACHING TO TAILGATE BOTTOM GAP USING STANDARD TAILGATE SEAL
Cut a 2” piece of Standard seal and peel off liner. Flush to Large seal on the lower sidewall and attach, bulb side up, as shown in FIG 1A and 1B. Duplicate for right sidewall. Once seal is positioned apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure adhesive bond.
|
 |
STEP 6: ATTACHING TO TAILGATE BOTTOM GAP USING STANDARD TAILGATE SEAL
Start at either end. Peel back a section of liner and flush bulb side down and aligned with the truck bed floor, to 2” Standard seal. (FIG 1A and 6A). Attach in sections and apply light pressure to adhesive. Stop when 6" (15.3cm) from opposite end. Keeping adhesive off surface, cut seal where it will be flush with the 2” Standard seal. Attach and apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure adhesive bond. |
STEP 7
After Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal® is in place, apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) again to secure the entire adhesive bond. Leave tailgate open for 30 minutes. If the air temperature will fall below 50°F (10°C) within the next 24 hours or, if applied to a surface other than paint, such as plastic or a spray on bed liner, then leave tailgate open for 24 hours. |
