How to install Extruded Solutions' Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal®
ITEMS REQUIRED: Scissors, clean rag, and soap-and-water solution.

IMPORTANT: Extreme temperatures can reduce adhesive performance. Install only when air and surface temperatures are between 55°F and 105°F (13°C–40°C).

Avoid touching the adhesive after removing the red liner. Reposition the seal no more than twice (or only once when temperatures exceed 80°F / 27°C), as repeated repositioning may reduce adhesive strength.

For spray-in bed liners (factory or aftermarket), textured surfaces, plastics, and other difficult-to-bond surfaces, use the enclosed Adhesion Promoter. Adhesion Promoter is not required on clean, smooth painted vehicle surfaces.

WARNING: Adhesion Promoter creates an instant bond. Once applied, do not remove, reposition, or readjust the seal.

Clean area thoroughly with soap and water solution and wipe completely dry. Use enclosed adhesion promoter on spray-in bed liners (factory or aftermarket), textured surfaces, plastics, and difficult-to-bond surfaces. It is not required on clean, smooth painted vehicle surfaces. The adhesion promoter will create an instant bond so do not attempt to remove or reposition seal.

Note: Large seal is not used for 2023 and older.

STEP 1

Start 1” below truck bed floor and attach Standard seal to the rear corner edge of the left sidewall extension (FIG 1A & 1B). Start from bottom and stop when flush with rubber stop. Cut to fit. Apply light pressure to adhesive. Duplicate for the right sidewall.

STEP 2

Continue from the top of rubber stop to the top of sidewall. When nearing top of sidewall, gradually rotate seal 90° counter clockwise so that bulb is facing forward and the taped side of seal is flush with the sidewall at the top (FIG 2A and 2B). Apply light pressure to adhesive. Duplicate for the right sidewall.

Close tailgate. If you see light through either sidewall, make adjustments by removing the seal and repositioning. After Tailgate Seal is in place, apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure the adhesive bond.

STEP 3 Attaching Standard Seal to tailgate bottom gap

Start at either end of the tailgate bottom gap and flush seal, bulbside down, to seal on the sidewall (FIG 3A). Keep seal even with the truck bed floor and attach in sections. Flush to seal on the opposite sidewall. Apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure the adhesive bond.

Close tailgate. If you see light through the sidewalls, make adjustments by removing the seal and repositioning. After Tailgate Seal is in place,

After Tailgate Seal is in place, apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) again to secure the entire adhesive bond.
