How to install Extruded Solutions' Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal®
ITEMS REQUIRED: Scissors, clean rag, and soap-and-water solution.

IMPORTANT: Extreme temperatures can reduce adhesive performance. Install only when air and surface temperatures are between 55°F and 105°F (13°C–40°C).

Avoid touching the adhesive after removing the red liner. Reposition the seal no more than twice (or only once when temperatures exceed 80°F / 27°C), as repeated repositioning may reduce adhesive strength.

For spray-in bed liners (factory or aftermarket), textured surfaces, plastics, and other difficult-to-bond surfaces, use the enclosed Adhesion Promoter. Adhesion Promoter is not required on clean, smooth painted vehicle surfaces.

WARNING: Adhesion Promoter creates an instant bond. Once applied, do not remove, reposition, or readjust the seal.

Enclosed adhesion promoter will only be used for STEP 3.

STEP 1
Clean area thoroughly with soap and water solution and wipe completely dry. Use alcohol pads to prep the tape application areas and let dry. Images shown are for left side of tailgate.

STEP 2: ATTACHING LARGE SEAL TO LEFT SIDEWALL
Start 1” (2.5 cm) below truck bed floor and begin attaching Large seal to the rear corner edge of the left sidewall extension (FIG 2 and 2A). Conform to contours and continue straight up, applying light pressure to adhesive and stop when 6” (15.24cm) from the bottom of bedrail liner (FIG 2B).

Keeping adhesive coff surface, mark the seal where it will be flush to the bottom of bedrail liner (FIG 2B and 2C). Cut, remove liner and apply. Close tailgate. If you see light through the sidewall, make adjustments by removing seal and repositioning. Once seal is positioned apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure adhesive bond. Duplicate for right side.

STEP 3: ATTACHING STANDARD SEAL TO TOP OF SIDEWALL
Cut a 4.5” (11.43cm) piece of Standard seal. Close tonneau cover. Put on protective glove and apply enclosed adhesion promoter to where the adhesive will be adhered to. Allow 90 seconds to dry.

NOTE: The adhesion promoter will create an instant bond so do not attempt to remove or reposition. Take Standard seal, remove liner, and attach as shown in FIG 3A and 3B. Apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure adhesive bond. Duplicate for right side. Open tonneau.

STEP 4: ATTACHING STANDARD SEAL TO INSIDE BOTTOM OF TAILGATE
Cut a 1.5” (3.8cm) piece of Standard seal and attach with bulb side forward as shown in FIG 2, 4 and 4A. Close tailgate. If you see light through the lower corner sidewall, make adjustments by removing seal and repositioning.

Once seal is positioned apply very firm pressure (25lbs.) to secure adhesive bond. Duplicate for right side.

STEP 6: LEAVE TAILGATE OPEN FOR 60 MINUTES
If the air temperature will fall between 50°F (10°C) within the next 24 hours or, if seals are attached to a surface other than paint, then leave tailgate open for 24 hours.
